Los Angeles County Inmate Information Resource

Los Angeles County Inmate Releases & Pending Releases

Looking for information about someone being released from a Los Angeles County jail? Use the release resources below to check available inmate release and pending release information.

Recent releases, pending releases, and current custody status

These are three distinct types of information. A recent release record shows individuals who have already been released from Los Angeles County custody. A pending release record shows individuals whose release is expected but has not yet been processed. Current custody status — whether someone is still in custody — is checked through the LASD Inmate Information Center using the person's name and date of birth. Release records and custody records are maintained separately and may not update at the same time.

Release dates and times are estimates until final processing is complete. Court orders, outstanding holds, transportation and administrative processing may delay release. Confirm current information directly with LASD.

Men's Central Jail inmate search and facility information can help you start with the appropriate custody resources. Century Regional Detention Facility information provides CRDF-specific custody and release-resource guidance. Twin Towers Correctional Facility information provides TTCF-specific release and custody guidance.

Releases vs. Pending Releases

These are two separate Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department resources. The Releases report contains information about individuals who have been released from county custody. The Pending Releases report contains information about individuals whose release is pending.

Release information can change. Always check the current source for the latest available information.

Do not rely on these reports to determine whether a specific individual has been or will be released at a particular time. Information may not be immediately updated.

Release processing and record delays

A release does not always appear in public records immediately. Final processing — including paperwork, property return, and administrative steps — can take several hours after a release decision is made. Court orders, outstanding holds from other agencies, and transportation requirements can also delay a release. Do not assume a person has been released based on an expected time alone. Confirm through the LASD Inmate Information Center or by calling LASD Custody Information at (213) 473-6100.

VINE: Victim Information and Notification Everyday

VINE is a national service that allows registered users to receive notifications about changes in an offender's custody status, including releases and transfers.

What is VINE?

VINE is operated by Appriss Insights and is available for Los Angeles County custody records. It is not an LASD or government-operated service, but it uses custody data provided by participating agencies.

How it works

Registered users provide contact information and select the person they want to monitor. VINE sends an automated notification — by phone, email, or text — when a custody status change is recorded for that individual.

How to access VINE

Access VINE at vinelink.com or call 1-877-411-5588. You will need the person's name or offender ID to register for notifications.

Limitations

VINE notifications depend on data provided by the custodial agency. Notifications may not be immediate. VINE cannot guarantee release times, confirm the reason for a status change, or provide information beyond what is in the custody record. Always confirm important information directly with LASD.
