Use this guide to understand the difference between physical property, money release and inmate trust-account funds. Procedures can depend on the person’s current custody location, so confirm the facility before making arrangements.

Ask the current facility or the listed property contact about the procedure that applies to the person’s location.
Money release is different from physical property. LASD states that an incarcerated person must obtain a Money Release Form from on-duty custody staff and submit it. At Pitchess Detention Center, a visitor may obtain the form from the PDC visiting-area check-in window.
Trust-account funds, deposits and commissary-related money are handled through inmate account processes. LASD states that withdrawals are processed at the Inmate Reception Center or Century Regional Detention Facility; use the inmate accounts guide for deposits and account questions.
LASD advises that uncollected trust-account money or commissary refunds may be handled through IRC or CRDF, and that trust accounts are generally purged about 30 days after release. Contact the applicable cashier line for current instructions.
